Tahquamenon Area Schools

The Middle School Volleyball schedule that was printed on the tri-fold schedules and handed out at many of the local businesses is not correct. It was also not correct in the paper. Our next game is in Brimley on Monday, September 11th. 5:00 start time. Our first home game is Wednesday, September 13th against Pickford. 7th grade begins at 5:00 with 8th grade to follow. Come fill the stands and cheer these girls on! They are an amazing group of talented girls and they sure are fun to watch! Here is the schedule as it stands today. Please keep in mind that it is common for games to be rescheduled or moved. Monday, September 11th Tri Meet at Brimley. 5:00 start time. Wednesday, September 13th 5:00 home game against Pickford. Saturday, September 16th Tournament. 6/7th will play at Rudyard. 8th at Brimley. Times TBD. Monday, September 18th Tri Meet at Cedarville. 5:00 start time. Wednesday, September 20th home against Engadine. This may only be 6/7th grade if Engadine has only one team. Monday, September 25th 5:00 away game at Engadine. May only be 6/7th grade. Wednesday, September 27th 5:00 home game with Rudyard. Saturday, September 30th Conference Tournament. Details TBD

TAS will have an Open House for parents on Wednesday, Sept 20, 2023 from 6-7 p.m. This will be a time for you to meet your students teacher or teachers and to see the building. Please walk the K-6 building to see what changes have occurred over the summer. This open house is for parents of TAS students. A public open house will occur in the near future. Please note the date change of Open House as we had a scheduling conflict.

TAS is confirming that we will be starting school on Monday, September 11 at 8:13 a.m. The doors will open at 7:45 a.m. We are moving along and getting things ready for the Sept. 11 start. We are excited to see everyone on Monday, Sept. 11, 2023.

The 6th unit was emptied today. Thank you to all that showed up and worked hard. It is greatly appreciated by all the K-6 staff. Bring on Sept. 11.

TAS would like to welcome Mrs. Catherine Clark as our new K-12 Music Teacher. Mrs. Clark has 3 years of K-12 music teaching experience and is excited to meet and work with our TAS students. The biggest THANK YOU goes out to 45 student athletes and 11 staff members. Golf, football, volleyball, girls and boys basketball were represented. Lynn Evan, Jessica Price, Erin McNamara, Lisa Wallace, Haley Stark, Sarah Pleiman, Kayla Hoder, Trevor Clark, Michael Magyar, and Marshall Kirby. Many hands made the work go quicker. 5 storage units out of 6, a cafeteria and lobby were emptied in a little over 4 hours. YOU are all awesome and hard working. The laughs and fun were had all while working. Thank you ALL. I appreciate it more than you know. Stacy Price, Superintendent

Tomorrow August 23, 2023 is Registration Day! Due to the construction project, Registration will take place in the south end of the building this year. Please enter the building thru the 7-12/High School entrance. No other doors will be unlocked. See you then!!

REQUEST FOR BID – Snowplowing The Tahquamenon Area School District is seeking bids for snowplowing for the 2023-2024 school year for the following sites: • Newberry Area School • Pentland Bus Garage Sites may be separated for the convenience of the bidder or bid together. Bids at the Newberry site must allow for removal of the snow without pushing it up onto the lawn. Large piles of snow must be removed. Bids must specify the method of removal. Bidders must provide proof of automobile liability insurance along with bid. Bids must be submitted on a district bid sheet, which is available in the Business Office of Tahquamenon Area Schools. Bids will be received until 1:30pm on TUESDAY, AUGUST 22, 2023. Submitted bids should be sent or presented in a sealed envelope with “Snow Plowing Bid” clearly printed in the lower left-hand corner of the envelope. Bids will be publicly opened at 1:45 pm in the Tahquamenon Area School’s Administrative Office, 700 Newberry Avenue, Newberry MI 49868 on TUESDAY, AUGUST 22, 2023.
