Resources for parents as our thoughts and prayers go out to Uvalde Elementary School and community.

Three Class of 2022 students were honored today with the EUP Principal's Award on Mackinac Island. These students had a GPA of 3.3 or higher and either scored a 24 or higher on the ACT or 1160 or higher on the SAT. Congratulations to Priya Rao, Mackenzie Dunbar and Jacob Brown.

Photos from 5th grade field trip to Historic Mill Creek in Mackinac City. Students enjoyed blue skies and sunshine while learning about plants and animals of the north woods as well as historical logging and milling practices.

Due to wet weather this week, graduation is being moved indoors to the gym. Graduation will be Friday, May 27, at 7:00 p.m. in the gym. Front doors will be open as well as the ramp and cafeteria doors in the back of the school. Look forward to seeing celebrating the Class of 2022.

UPCOMING DRILL On Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. Tahquamenon Area Schools in cooperation with the Luce County Sheriff's Office and Emergency Management will be conducting a relocation drill. Relocation drills are in the event that staff and students need to be removed from campus. This relocation drill will have students and staff K-12 practice leaving the school building and moving to locations off school campus. The students will be moving to the Methodist and Catholic churches. Law enforcement assisting with the drill will have streets blocked off to assist in moving students. The goal of this drill is to practice moving students and staff from school to relocation areas safely and efficiently and to test radio communication with all entities. This drill is estimated to take about an hour.

Senior Spotlight - Ryan Zellar After high school, Ryan is planning to attend a heavy equipment school. His favorite high school memory was Mr. Fossitt getting a pie in his face, and Ryan's proudest high school accomplishments include building a table and a decoy in Mr. Parr's class. Ryan's advice to incoming freshmen is "you don't have to like your teachers, just do what they tell you" and his favorite saying is "never regret anything that made you smile."

Senior Spotlight - Jalen Taylor Jalen is planning to join the Navy after he graduates. His favorite high school memory is a basketball game in Cheboygan, and he's proud of beating Engadine in basketball. Jalen is going to miss playing sports with his friends, and his favorite class was gym. Jalen's advice to incoming freshmen is "enjoy every day because it will be over with before you know it" and his favorite saying is "it is what it is."

Senior Spotlight - Jorja Suriano After graduation, Jorja is planning to attend Central Michigan University to get a degree in Business. She's proud to be salutatorian of her class, and her favorite class was AP literature with Mrs. Kidd. Jorja couldn't live without her mom, and she's going to miss seeing her friends everyday. her advice to incoming freshmen is "Be true to yourself, and stay out of drama - it's a waste of time."

Senior Spotlight - Connor Slaght Connor isn't sure what he's going to do after high school, but he's going to miss spending time with his friends. His favorite memory is landing his 3's and the crowd going wild and his favorite class was with Mr. Kirby. Connor couldn't live without his bike, and his advice to incoming freshmen is to be respectful.

Senior Spotlight - Liam Shanley Liam plans to become an electrician after high school. His favorite high school memory is playing football, and his proudest high school accomplishment is beating Pickford in the football playoffs. He's going to miss his friends and he couldn't live without his hat. Liam's advice to incoming freshmen is to enjoy high school while it lasts, it passes quickly, and his favorite quote comes from Connor Slaght: "We win tonight."

Senior Spotlight - Ryan Metzler Ryan isn't sure what her plans after high school are, but she's going to miss her friends. Her favorite memory is beating the juniors in the PowderPuff football game, and her favorite classes were art with Mr. Parr and Algebra I with Mr. Jordan. Ryan's favorite saying is "Life goes on, days get brighter," and her advice to incoming freshmen is "be nice to everyone because you never know what they could be going through."

Senior Spotlight - Nathan Seitz Nathan's plans for after high school is taking the next big step in his life. Nathan is going to miss snow days, and his favorite classes were his dual enrollment classes. He couldn't live without ice water, and his advice to incoming freshmen is "pay attention in class, understanding the information is everything."

Senior Spotlight - Connor Rintamaki After graduating, Connor is planning to attend college for at least 2 years before finding a good job. He couldn't live without football, and he's going to miss seeing his friends every day. Connor's favorite class was chemistry and his advice to incoming freshmen is "Make the good memories last before it's over." His favorite quote is from Chad Johnson: "There's only 3 things guaranteed in life: death, taxes, and 85 will always be open."

Senior Spotlight - Priya Rao Priya's plans for after high school include attending the University of Michigan, and eventually going to a business school. One of her favorite high school memories is the PowderPuff football game her senior year, and her favorite class was international relations. Priya is going to miss playing sports with her friends, and her favorite saying is "Life is tough. Get a helmet."
