Mrs. Vincent's first grade celebrated a hot chocolate/pajama day on Friday, January 13. Students read, wrote, sang, danced, and worked on math activities related to hot chocolate. Finally, the children made their own hot chocolate, yum! Thanks to the parents and the kitchen who provided the toppings and cups.

The Upper Peninsula Cybersecurity Institute is excited to be accepting applications for its 2023 GenCyber Summer Camp on the campus of Northern Michigan University. This two-week, residential camp experience is for any current 8th-12th grade student and is FREE for students through the National Security Agency GenCyber grant program! For this reason, participants need to apply before being formally accepted. Applications are due by March 3, 2023.

*Families can purchase additional youth tickets to accompany their family passes for $2.00.

Mrs. Wallace has selected 6th grader Drake Littlejohn as the Newberry Elementary Student of the Week. He is the son of Kaleena Danielson and Douglas Littlejohn Jr.
Drake has shown tremendous academic growth this year in several areas. He continuously works hard to understand new concepts and perseveres through challenges. A leader among his peers, Drake can be counted on to be an encouragement to others and have fun too. Congratulations Drake!

7-12 Student of the Week
Congratulations, Emily Endsley, for being this week’s Newberry High School
Student of the Week. Emily is in the ninth grade and is the daughter of Devon
Gould.
According to Mrs. Rathje, “Emily is a wonderful student. She takes her
schoolwork seriously, listens to instructions, asks great questions, and isn’t afraid
to take risks with her writing.”
Emily also volunteered to work on her English assignments at home, which
allowed her to help the middle school band prepare for their band concert. This
positive attitude and willingness to help others make her an absolute delight to
have in class.
Emily, thank you for all you do to make Newberry High School a better place.

The first session of cooking club for grades 4-6 wrapped up this week with Mrs. Welty. Some menu items students made were Cheesy Taco Sticks, Chicken Ranch Roll-ups, Fruit Pizzas, Sugar cookies, and more. Forms for session two enrollment will be available next week with the club starting Jan. 25th.
TAS is on a 2 hour delay today, Thursday, Jan. 5, 2023. School will start at 10:13 a.m. Buses schedule are 2 hours later than normal.
